Join us in a traditional wedding
Back in the day a traditional wedding in Øygarden could last for days. Music, dancing, and partying into the wee hours of the morning. Lots of drinking and good food was an important part of the celebration. The whole village was invited, often they could be over 100 guests.
In our exhibition the natural focal point is the bridal dress, complete with a bridal crown. The use of such a crown bridal dress came with strict rules and traditions, and not everybody was eligible for wearing it. In addition to the bridal dress and crown we also show what the guests would wear and talk about local traditions surrounding the whole process of getting married.
